{"id":169,"date":"2009-04-13T11:11:03","date_gmt":"2009-04-13T11:11:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/?p=169"},"modified":"2021-03-08T18:52:00","modified_gmt":"2021-03-09T02:52:00","slug":"copenhagan-the-big-picture","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/2009\/04\/13\/copenhagan-the-big-picture\/","title":{"rendered":"Copenhagan-The Big Picture"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 320px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" \" src=\"http:\/\/www.nasa.gov\/images\/content\/138784main_image_feature_460_ys_4.jpg\" alt=\"Courtesy of NASA\" width=\"310\" height=\"232\" \/><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Courtesy of NASA<\/p><\/div>\n<div class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0 0 10pt;\"><strong>Think Global: <span style=\"text-decoration: line-through;\">Act Local<\/span>\u00a0 Act for ALL<\/strong><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><em>By Suzanne Maxx<\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;;\">The reality of one home and shared resources for us all is starting to take priority for many who had been previously concerned only about personal survival or achievement.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Global philanthropy is an at all time high \u2014\u00a0 ironically this comes at a time when personal survival is challenged and despite these times many people seem to\u00a0 continue to seek the bigger picture, beyond their own challenges.\u00a0 Regardless of country, we are all dealing with the world now, and our potential future.\u00a0 We all have a need for air, water, earth, and energy.\u00a0 Our collective resources are shared and how we use them regardless of where we are, affects us all.\u00a0 An emergent question is how we put a value or \u201cprice\u201d on responsibility to these elements.\u00a0 What can that replace or transform our present monetary structures and support the global \u201ceco\u201dmony\/ology ?\u00a0 This is what humanity is beginning to awaken to with our global environmental movement.\u00a0 How do we live on earth in balance with our resources?<br \/>\n<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;;\">\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; font-family: &quot;;\"><br \/>\nGrowth is challenging. \u00a0Is there a higher reason we all are being called to look at the way we have structured the game of life in our world now? Here\u2019s to human evolution, and global transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0 0 10pt;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">This is an exciting time for those of living inside the environmental and social movement for two decades or more\u2026.<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldteamnow.org\/\">Our time is now<\/a><\/span> \u2014 people, like you are listening, and want to participate, as we are all stake holders in our children\u2019s home.\u00a0 With perseverance, the battles to convince people of the existence of environmental and social challenges facing the planet are not over, but we have succeeded to begin to educate the masses.\u00a0 Multi-media telecommunications have shrunk the world, and some powerful leaders (without countries) have emerged on the global scene \u2014 thank you, Yvo de Boer, Al Gore, His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and Bono. Now the challenge lies in doing the work to create the change in enough time for the change to take hold so humanity has more options.\u00a0 The speed at which we are able to move now is exhilarating, if not overwhelming.\u00a0 Just when I\u2019m ready to post about <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">\u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.g20.org\/\">G20\u201d,<\/a><\/span> or \u201c<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Solar_energy\">solar energy<\/a><\/span>\u201d, something changes or the technology advances \u2014 it is a challenge to keep pace with accuracy with the speed at which the transformation is happening. \u00a0Please forgive me if by the time you are reading this the information is obsolete.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0 0 10pt;\"><span lang=\"EN\" style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">For the future direction of humanity and our global environment, one thing is clear; there is a lot riding on the potential of the upcoming <a href=\"http:\/\/unfccc.int\/essential_background\/items\/2877.php\">United Nation\u2019s Conference in Copenhagen<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0 The possibility of a global treaty that is enforceable and honored by the world for our world \u2014 could be a global game changer or life transformer.\u00a0 One of the challenges with the<a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/english\/\"> U.N.<\/a> model\u00a0is the way the world is divided, described, and regulated \u2014 by the concepts of categorizing countries by their \u201cdevelopment\u201d.\u00a0 Is there a more powerful framework to view with the world?\u00a0 Does it serve us to label the USA as \u201cdeveloped\u201d and China and India as \u201cdeveloping\u201d nations?\u00a0 We have to at least try to work within the U.N.\u2019s global framework as it is the only global framework we have now.\u00a0 Just like we have to work within our challenged systems like our legal, educational, political, monetary and healthcare systems, as that is what we have now.\u00a0 How can the \u201csystems\u201d better serve humanity, and what role can the machine play in the transformation?<\/span><\/p>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">The outcome of a powerful Global Treaty could be like what The C<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_States_Constitution\">onstitution<\/a> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/exhibits\/charters\/constitution.html\">is for the USA<\/a><\/span>, or like what the <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/Overview\/rights.html\">Declaration\u00a0of Human Rights<\/a><\/span> distinguishes for the world. Personally I have been following this dream of a global treaty for our environment, since Rio De Janeiro 1992, when I was there where it all began in the global community, at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.un.org\/geninfo\/bp\/enviro.html\">The Earth Summit\/Global Forum<\/a>.\u00a0 Then the treaty\u00a0was just emerging as the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/United_Nations_Framework_Convention_on_Climate_Change\">The Climate Change Treaty<\/a>\u201d or more formally; &#8220;<span style=\"color: blue;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC or FCCC), <\/span><\/span>with more nations ratifying this global document than any other in the history of our world \u2014 for our environment. The idea behind the climate treaty is aimed at stabilizing greenhouse gases, in the atmosphere at a level that would prevent change in our climate system.\u00a0 It became <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kyoto_Protocol\">The Kyoto Protocol<\/a><\/span>,\u00a0after a rocky history of trying to get the USA to ratify, but the distinctions between developing and developed countries made the playing field questionable, when developing giants like\u00a0China and India\u00a0would not have to play by the same rules as the USA, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciesin.org\/TG\/PI\/TREATY\/framwork.html\">for more history click here<\/a>.\u00a0 The UNFCCC or FCCC roots grew back to <span style=\"color: black;\">The Earth Summit \/Global Forum, formerly<\/span> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ciesin.org\/TG\/PI\/TREATY\/unced.html\">The <span style=\"color: #365f91;\">United Nations <\/span>Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). <\/a>The acronym &#8220;UNCED&#8221;\u00a0remained the joke that many told which summed up a strong underlying truth, of the outcome for many with the frustration of what was \u201cUN-SAID\u201d in the United Nations\u2019 conferences. We believe at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldteamnow.org\">World Team Now<\/a> name\u2019s are significant.\u00a0 What about a new name for what could\u00a0become &#8220;The Copenhagen Treaty\u201d (It would be nice if we could evolve past the place it was created, and call it something that could have meaning for all in the World;\u00a0 like \u201cThe World\u2019s Action Treaty for Environmental\u00a0 Resources and Sustainability\u201d, with the acronym; \u201cWATERS\u201d\u2026.\u00a0This name is more encompassing as it could\u00a0allow the off set, trading\u00a0game to apply to more than\u00a0Climate Change but also to other environmental contaminants that affect our earth and humanity offing a reward for the clean up, and cost\u00a0to pay for those who chose to take our collective resources.<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<div><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt; line-height: 115%; font-family: &quot;;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<div><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/div>\n<p><em>\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Regardless of country, we are all dealing with the world now, and our potential future.
