{"id":1911,"date":"2012-12-24T15:38:53","date_gmt":"2012-12-24T15:38:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/?p=1911"},"modified":"2012-12-25T05:51:04","modified_gmt":"2012-12-25T05:51:04","slug":"wtn-a-year-end-review-for-2012","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/2012\/12\/24\/wtn-a-year-end-review-for-2012\/","title":{"rendered":"World Team Now (WTN): A Year-end Review for 2012"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldteamnow.org\/\">World Team Now<\/a> \u00a0produced two events\u00a0associated\u00a0with\u00a0\u00a0Rio+20:\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blogs\/road-to-rio\/2012\/05\/02\/wtn-rio-event\/\">\u201cRIO Panel on Humanity &amp; Environment = Our World\u2019s Resources\u201d<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0\u00a0at the United Nations People\u2019s Summit,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blogs\/road-to-rio\/2012\/06\/06\/heart-soul-the-call-for-our-earth-in-the-world-event-at-rio-20-peoples-summit\/\">&#8220;Heart &amp; Soul &#8216;The Call&#8217; for Our Earth and a World Team&#8221;<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0Though this activity, we were a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tcktcktck.org\/2011\/09\/world-team-now\">partner<\/a>\u00a0with\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/tcktcktck.org\/\">TckTckTck\/GCCA<\/a>. WTN T- shirts were given to the indigenous leaders in Brazil.<\/p>\n<p>We did a lot of work in finding a suitable renewable energy demonstration project that will be done in 2013: a solar carport was donated,\u00a0presented\u00a0\u00a0our solar carport project to the Malibu City Council, and explored \u00a0electric vehicle (EV)\u00a0charging\u00a0carport\u00a0installations power by solar in several locations. \u00a0We also began a Malibu wind initiative to explore permitting\u00a0residential\u00a0installations\u00a0with\u00a0the city and state.<\/p>\n<p>WTN continued our focus on\u00a0vehicle\u00a0electrification at the \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/2012\/04\/15\/more-than-a-flying-car-electrifies-the-international-new-york-auto-show\/\">NYC Auto Show<\/a>, the AltCar Expo and more recently the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/2012\/12\/08\/la-auto-show-renewed-world-team-now\/\">LA Auto Show<\/a>, to align and create campaigns with auto\u00a0manufactures.\u00a0 At\u00a0the\u00a0alternative\u00a0vehicle test drive and special hearing at CSU Channel Islands with state senate members Fran Pavley and Lou Carrera we suggested changes on the rebate policy and legislation for the State of California. We are in process with a formal recommendation for public policy to ask for a rebate to come off of the sticker\u00a0price.<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"676\" height=\"507\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/kTD_eSaxjQc?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Another renewable energy\u00a0demonstration came when\u00a0\u00a0WTN submitted a proposal to LA County for the use of the Zuma beach parking lot for a a activities center centered around skateboarding\/roller skating and surfing activities with a renewable energy kiosk.<\/p>\n<p>We are ever grateful for Dave Waltz \u00a0who was the head of the Center for\u00a0Computational\u00a0Learning Systems (CCLS) at Columbia University and passed this year. Dave\u00a0encouraged WTN and helped in so many ways in our growth. We continue to explore a more formal relationship with CCLS.<\/p>\n<p>Within World Team Now, we added new people\u2014\u00a0both on the board and volunteers.\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.worldteamnow.org\/bio.html#Liana\">Liana Foksheneanu<\/a>\u00a0became\u00a0a board member. \u00a0We\u00a0continue\u00a0to look for great people to build WTN.\u00a0We were blessed\u00a0that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.edwardswildman.com\/\">Edwards\/Wildman<\/a>\u00a0has come on board to give WTN legal support.<\/p>\n<p>World Team Now is meant to continue of the for-profit\u00a0multimedia\u00a0platform <a href=\"http:\/\/worldteam.tv\/\">WorldTeam.tv<\/a>. We intend to\u00a0launch\u00a0this platform in 2013 and look\u00a0forward\u00a0to growing the platform so all people can play to transform our world.
