{"id":596,"date":"2010-03-02T21:56:42","date_gmt":"2010-03-02T21:56:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/?p=596"},"modified":"2010-03-05T04:28:05","modified_gmt":"2010-03-05T04:28:05","slug":"climate-change-action-for-policy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/worldteamnow.org\/blog\/2010\/03\/02\/climate-change-action-for-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Climate Change- Action for Renewable Energy Policy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>By Suzanne Maxx \u00a9<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"http:\/\/tools.advomatic.com\/13\/72hours_call\"><\/a><\/em><em>Although <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Anthropogenic\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">Anthropogenic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"> <\/span><\/em><em>Climate Change is hard to pronounce, it is an even greater challenge to present the information so more people can really understand.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The fact that average citizens still misunderstand this topic was demonstrated to me when I was walking in Malmo, Sweden for the train to Copenhagen, Denmark to the<a href=\"http:\/\/cop15.com\/\"> <span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">U.N.\u2019s COP15.<\/span><\/a> I met a middle-aged Texan who was travelling on business, while he helped me navigate my luggage through the snow, he said laughing loudly:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s hard to believe there are these people in Copenhagen for a conference on global warming when there is record cold and snow fall, how silly! We had a snowball fight yesterday, and I kept thinking how could they be so foolish?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>This was one of the moments that I was feeling embarrassed about Americans\u2019 lack of illumination on this subject. I tried to explain that it is the name, \u201cGlobal Warming\u201d that confuses people\u2013 Climate Change\/Global Warming presents in extreme weather conditions. \u00a0I wish I could have explained it to the Texan in Sweden as well as Al Gore did in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2010\/02\/28\/opinion\/28gore.html\"><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\">New York Times Op-Ed piece<\/span><\/a><span style=\"color:#0000ff;\"> <\/span>this past Sunday &#8211;and with as much patience.<\/p>\n<p>Even if one doesn\u2019t comprehend the science of Global Warming, what is hard to understand is how people can actually think that we can pollute our air, or our water, or land, without consequences.\u00a0\u00a0 We live here and the earth is alive.
