1. World Team Now: Education the Public about Net Metering
World Team Now is big on educating the public about the advantages of the Net Meter, with projects that lead communities with individual examples of Net Metering. In addition to our Net Metering initiative in Lake Placid at Betty Eldridge’s home, please double click below to see what World Team Now did this past year:

- New York– Net Metering:
The Net Metering Bills passed State of New York Legislature this past year for both residential and commercial users. New York State’s Secretary Deputy of Energy, Paul DeCotis from Governor Patterson’s Office, helped World Team Now move forward with not only Net Metering information but also our upcoming building projects in New York City with introductions. Jim Gallagher of Mayor Bloomberg’s Economic Development Council (EDC) was one; he spoke about Net Metering in this piece released by Con ED:

Jim and his team at EDC met with World Team Now’s Founder/President, Suzanne Maxx, and Board member, Albert Boulanger of Columbia’s CCLS (also working on a Con Ed project), and they explored ways to work together…
4. California– Net Metering
It’s happening now! We all want specific measurable results, and the key to your renewable energy system is indeed: the meter:
Solar Metering & Performance Monitoring
San Diego CA * February 3-5 2009
http://www.solarelectricpower.org/index.php?page=
The third annual Solar Metering & Performance Monitoring (SMPM) Expo is held in conjunction with DistribuTECH 2009. SMPM 2009, presented by the Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), is designed to bring together utilities, technology vendors, and solar installers re: meters, inverters, monitoring equipment, services, the smart grid, and understanding photovoltaic performance measures.
Now property owners in Lake Placid, New York, will have an opportunity to start saving money from their homes and businesses, with renewable energies. On Saturday, October 18, the Mayor of Lake Placid, the municipal electric department, the region’s energy efficiency program (IEEP), and World Team Now, (aka World Team Now), along with Lake Placid icon Betty Eldridge, will launch an initiative to showcase renewable energy options. Through this local team initiative, owners with renewable energy system(s), such as solar, will be gifted a “Net Meter”. The Net Meter can measure, not only the use of electricity but also the electricity produced on site by the home or business, which will be “bought back” from Lake Placid Village Electric. There will be lead-up events taking place at Mrs. Eldridge’s residence in Lake Placid on Sunday, September 28th, and Saturday, Oct. 4th. Mrs. Eldridge will host a tour of her environmental model home, as well as lead an outdoor cleanup. See http://worldteamnow.org. The initiative is a joint effort between local/regional bodies, World Team and World Team Now, a 501(c)(3) whose mission is to activate a global forum to implement sustainable solutions for environmental and social issues. The program will give local customers an incentive to invest in renewable energy options through the use of this single device – the net meter.
“Betty is the perfect role model for this net metering initiative,” says Suzanne Maxx, founder and president of World Team Now, and a former student of the North Country School. “She is a pioneer, like Eleanor Roosevelt.”
